Raised in the South Bronx, by a Puerto Rican grandmother, I was exposed to diverse groups of people at a young age. When I began volunteering throughout the United States, my exposure widened. Spending my summers on tribe reservations in Washington, engaging in disaster relief in New Orleans, conducting pet therapy in NYC and feeding the hungry in Phnom Penh, Cambodia; volunteering led me to the professional sector of the social service field.
Since 2010, I have been a support to children, adolescents and adults; having worked with the general and forensics population to address trauma, abuse and emotional wellness. My clients have included neurodivergent individuals, people in recovery, BIPOC women, college students, artists and creatives, high school and middle schoolers, queer communities, survivors of domestic violence, seniors, adult and youth on probation and people in the foster care system.
The settings I’ve worked in include: New York City Department of Probation, Bronx Psychiatric Center, Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom High School, Mott Hall Community School and Research Foundation of CUNY. Over the years, I have led dozens of workshops on mental health and trauma, facilitated support groups for recovery members and developed student mental health clubs.
Since becoming a psychotherapist in 2021; I have been employed by The University of Pennsylvania, Lancaster General Hospital and various private practices in Pennsylvania. I graduated from CUNY John Jay College with a Bachelor and Masters in Criminal Justice and Rutgers University with a Master of Social Work. I was a first generation college student.
For psychotherapy, I use an integrative approach combining Somatic Psychotherapy, Somatic Parts Work, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Expressive Arts. Through talk therapy and creative, body-centered practices, my clients can explore emotions, beliefs and patterns, reconnect with their bodies, and regulate their nervous systems.
My work is largely shaped by lived experience + interest in collective liberation and healing. My own background is that of a survivor of childhood abuse and former foster kid. It took me years to heal from these experiences and know how debilitating the affects of trauma can be. I believe this is where much of my empathy comes from and the reason my passion is working with BIPOC women who have survived trauma and are ready to live happier lives.
I believe my clients are the experts on their own experiences and seek to support them in forming their own narratives. I hold an authentic and safe therapeutic space to explore, connect and heal. Through the use of curiosity, humor, and compassion I foster a collaborative, affirming and non-judgmental environment that supports you.
In my free time, I enjoy reading thrillers, eating good food, and hanging out with my partner and our 3 dogs. I also love being creative and exploring nearby towns/going on adventures.
